5 great reasons to practice Pilates in 2018

With our bodies, finances and emotions maxxed out after the Festive season its tempting to take a hard line detox approach in January.   However this ‘all or nothing’ mantra often doesn’t last the month, leaving you feeling deflated, defeated and often deeper out of pocket.

If fitness or wellness is one of your resolutions for 2018 then read on, but don’t expect any quick fixes or miracle cures….. at Equilesse we prefer to help you make subtle changes that will last a lifetime.    That’s why Pilates is such an all-round all-year winner!

Here are just 5 great reasons to give Pilates a go in 2018:

boost your breathing, boost your circulation, boost your immune system with Pilates

Pilates focuses on good breathing techniques…. As a result you can increase the blood flow and circulation to all your vital organs.  This alone can boost your energy levels and reinvigorate you; the perfect pick-me-up for January.

Its all very well getting ‘fit’ but what are you getting ‘fit for?’ If you can barely bend to tie your shoelaces then maybe a 5 mile run aint gonna help! Pilates is sensible, real exercise for real life.   Our aim at Equilesse is to make you fit for everyday living.

The problem with many of the January ‘regimes’ is that they are boring.   Boiled cabbage for 4 weeks – boring!   50 burpees a day – boring!   30 minutes staring at a wall on a treadmill – boring!   Variety is the spice of life.  With a huge repertoire of exercises and equipment to choose from our Pilates sessions are never dull!   And whether you want to exercise on your own, as part of a group or to focus on some real specifics at Equilesse Pilates Studio we have a format to suit at a time that’s just right for you.

Attempting to get into to shape too quickly in January could do more harm than good. Nearly 500,000 workout-related injuries occur each year in the US, according to statistics and the UK is not far behind.

Major causes of injury include people doing do too much, too fast and overusing their muscles, as well as poor technique during weight training and other exercise regimens.

Pilates is intelligent exercise suitable for all ages and levels of fitness.  At Equilesse Pilates studio we can tailor a programme to suit someone recovering from surgery right through to a top performing sports person.  And you can be sure it will be taught to you by a fully qualified Pilates expert.

Pilates works for life not just for January!    Pilates is low impact.  It uses small precise movements which gradually increase in challenge.  The exercises work your deep core muscles helping to improve posture and your supporting muscles to increase flexibility.

Pilates exercises can use just your bodyweight or equipment to add increased resistance.  We work on the floor, standing, on chairs, on specialised equipment.  Pilates suits all ages, all levels of fitness.

With regular practice our clients become leaner, stronger, more flexible, more co-ordinated, more energised, more confident.

It’s true – Pilates can change the way you look, feel and move, forever!
